Pride Week

Pride Week 2004 starts on Saturday 26th June and closes on Sunday 4th July with the Pride Week Awards Night.

In commemoration of the 1969 Stonewall riots, Pride Week offers individuals, groups and organisations that contribute to our community, a chance to:

• showcase their work and raise their profile
• fundraise
• work together and form partnerships in the community, government and private sectors
• engage with, and the hear the needs of, the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities of Sydney

GLRL currently has tentative plans for three Pride Week events: A Dance Party, A Picnic for lesbian and gay families with Rainbow Babies, and an Event to commemorate the 20 th Anniversary of the 1984 decriminalisation of sex between men! Keep your eye on the GLBT press and our website for details closer to June.

If you’d like to help our Events Team with preparations for Pride Week or other GLRL volunteering, please ( click here ).

If you are involved with a community organisation wanting do some profile and fund raising or an artist wanting to exhibit your work, you can fill in an application form and submit it by Friday 7th May 2004 . Your event will receive promotion (free of charge to you) via the Pride Week program, paid advertising in the media as well as via the websites of member organisations.
