We farewell a veteran volunteer

The New South Wales Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby today thanked Chris Pycroft for six years of volunteer service including 18 months as Male Co-Convenor.

Chris has stepped away from the Committee of Management to spend more time working in the mental health sector.

Volunteering for worthy causes is not just a part time passion for Chris – it’s his way of life. There are many who speak for a change but there are few who make a difference, and Chris is one of them.

The Lobby recognises such tireless dedication requires personal sacrifice and considerable commitment of volunteered time – and for this we extend our heartfelt thanks. The Lobby particularly acknowledges Chris’s great generosity, energy and thoughtfulness as a transformative leader in LGBTI rights.

Chris’s diligence and dedication has been a source of inspiration for many who have worked with him. It is with great joy that we reminisce about the times we worked together to confront new challenges and emerge victorious on issues ranging from Federal Sex Discrimination laws through to the Expungement of Historical Criminal Convictions in NSW.

The NSW GLRL Committee of Management expresses its great appreciation for his efforts and contribution to building a better, more just society for LGBTI people. We’ve accomplished so much, though our work continues on.

We thank Chris for his kindness and professionalism as a contributor to NSW GLRLs rich 30 year history of fighting for equality. We will miss him dearly and wish him the very best in his next adventure.

Since 1988, the Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby has been leading the fight for substantive legislative and social justice for lesbians, gay men and their families in NSW.
